Disappointed with 54 cal round ball.
That's amazing that the buck pictured made it as far as it did! I also took a pic of the heart after cleaning the doe. No where near the carnage but through the heart, pics are on my phone. Disappointed with 54 cal round ball.
Many thanks! That's what I was figuring and hoping. Thought it was unusual to NOT have the ball pass through with a 54 but wasn't sure what others have had happen. I've probably killed 20+ with a 50 and of those shot with a roundball, most didn't penetrate the other side's hide. Thanks!- Drahthaar

Wow sorry..... Guess I was surprised at not getting a pass through. I'm an avid archery hunter who is fortunate enough to get deer with archery gear. As an archer, a deer runs off and you're left trailing a deer based on the blood. Usually 2 holes mean more blood. No always and many...- Drahthaar

Guess I'm not as disappointed with the lack of blood trail vs. the lack of an exit hole.... I understand the pump being removed from the pressurized line. Not sure if I hit a rib square? I'll have to check more closely in the morning. Our temps last night warranted an immediate quartering...- Drahthaar

some of the shot details: the deer was perfectly broadside, the ball was actually through the opposite side and did not hit the opposite shoulder. It was through the meat and resting against the hide. I was using a Hornady ball and .20 oc yoke patches on top of 80 grains of goex 3f...- Drahthaar

Disappointed with 54 cal round ball.
Shot a big doe yesterday evening with my renegade 54. Made a perfect heart shot but much like the 50 cal, the 54 roundball failed to pass through. Instead, came to rest against the hide of the opposite side. Even with the snow, found VERY little blood and worry that a less than perfect shot...- Drahthaar
