    3 Band Enfield--shooting left

Before you try to adjust anything, have you tried it with a fixed bayonet on the muzzle? I have a Mosin-Nagant M44 with the folding bayonet and when folded, it will shoot about an inch or so to the side. However, once I extend the bayonet it shoots dead on to point of aim. Not sure if that...

Use a ladle and forget the bottom pours

Well, I guess I'll be the voice of disention here. I started out with a ladel, cast iron pot and a camp fire making balls and bullets. I later went up to a Lee 10# bottom pour and while it worked, the capacity wasn't that great and it also suffered from a drippy spout. I eventually bit the...

    Hammer falling to half-cock?

My reproduction 1853 Enfield seems to have developed a bad habit of dropping the hammer from full cock to half cock when the trigger is slowly squeezed. If I jerk the trigger, it will fire but seldom will it fire if it's a slow deliberate squeeze. Any idea where to start looking for the...

    T/C Hawken Rifle discontinued?

I guess I don't see them as an entry level gun but more of a niche gun for folks like me. Personally I loathe an in-line muzzle loader with every fiber of my being! I'm of the mind if you are going out in the muzzle loader season you go with a side hammer cuz anything else is as wrong as two...

    Miserable UPS truck!!!

Thanks for the tip but in doing a search earlier, someone here came up with the idea of using the base of a cartridge in a similar manner. Kinda short on the steel ball bearings here but I got scads of .45 ACP ammo. Drop the round down nose first and use a flashlight to check the bore. Looks...

    Miserable UPS truck!!!

Thanks for the information on my old .45 Hawken!!! I bought it used years ago when I first started in front stuffers froma friend of mine. I never really knew what it was but like you said, it was pretty accurate. In ND, .45 is the minimum for deer muzzle loader TC Hawken in .50 to be a...

    Miserable UPS truck!!!

Well, I managed to test fire it a little this morning between the snow fluries but nothing on paper yet. It does however fire without any problems and managed to hit what I was aiming at be it the old empty barrel or a few wood blocks around the yard. Now, the more I clean it, the more I am...

    Miserable UPS truck!!!

Well around 1830, it finally got here! I guess this is the first time I ever seen them get here that late in the day. I broke it down and cleaned it up (it was pretty clean in the first place) and it looks to be in excellent shape. Not bad for $350 I guess. My bore light went MIA and...

Yeah, but I never cared for the "stand by the stand by, we definately have a maybe" routine then either! LOL

    Miserable UPS truck!!!

I got a .50 caliber Thompson Center Hawken off gunbroker last week. UPS web site says it is on the truck for delivery today. It's still not here yet!!!! :cursing: Dang I hate the waiting!

    T/C Hawken Rifle discontinued?

So what exactly is the problem with the quick-load accurizer?

    CVA Hawken rifle?

Just for future reference, another way to check if you have a ball seated without a powder charge is to snap a cap with the muzzle above some light dust. Dust moves, there isn't a ball in the barrel to block the blast from the cap.

    1853 Enfield...what do I have here?

Well, thanks for the help on this. Sounds like my Enfield is an Italian built Parker-Hale then? Would that be an accurate assumpition? As far as a sear spring goes, what maker should I look at buying from that would work with this rifle, an Armi Sport or Euroarms sear spring? I really want...

    1853 Enfield...what do I have here?

Years ago, I bought a used 1853 Enfield reproduction rifle. Now the dealer that sold it to me told me that it was a real Parker-Hale and I'm not sure if that was right or if he wasn't really sure and went with what he thought was right. On top of the barrel is a single line stamp in front of...

States that have BP only seasons

North Dakota also has a Muzzle Loader season as well. Only thing I have always questioned about it though is why does it come right after open gun season? I would think before gun season would make more sense when they aren't as spooky and you have an easier time to get inside the muzzle...
