    Lee r.e.a.l. Mold

I have the TC .54 1:48 and I also tried the REAL's I tried both sizes. Sure they were fun to pour and easy to load, but they were not as accurate as the round ball. My plan was to hunt with them, but after a number of trips to the range that idea was changed.

    Blowing through nipples?

Well I have read that sometimes revolvers do not fire affter they have been shot during the same session. Wouldn't that be because the nipple is clogged? I don't know since I have never shot one before. Just trying to learn the do's and don'ts . Just blowing in the back on the cylinder...

    Lyman .54 caplock pistol

I had the same question a while back for my 1851 navy revolver 44 cal. And from what I learned through research and post, your fine to use FF in your .54 ,what you will lose is velocity due to the powder not burning as fast as FFF. It will shoot fine and some even prefer FF in there hand guns...

    Blowing through nipples?

Hey thanks for posting that link, I think I will also give a little puff as I turn the cylinder, just makes since to me. Naturally that's just what I thought I needed to do anyway, just wanted to see if others did.

    Blowing through nipples?

Since I'm a noob with my revolver , after you shoot your 6 rounds, do you ever rotate the cylinder and blow through the nipples ? I have done this with my 54 Hawken for years, why not the revolver? Same theory right?

    Plastic Vials for loading?

I would rather just use a flask with a measured spout for the grains I want to load. My concern is that the range I'm going to shoot at may think this is a no no. Due to safety. I never seen anyone shoot a bp revolver there so maybe I will be ok. I assume I will turn heads when I start...

    Plastic Vials for loading?

Do many of you use these vials for loading your revolver? I was looking on the auction site and there pretty cheap. It seems that you would also need a small funnel. How do you do it? Just load from the flask?

Nipples for a CVA Colt Navy

I'm going through the same thing, I also have an ASM that was made in 1985. I contacted Ethan at track of the wolf and he said most likely 12-28 but also said some were different threads than that. I wanted a nipple that would fit # 11 caps. So to avoid the shipping back in forth since I had...

    ASM 1851 colt navy cap?

Well , I hope mine likes 11's to because I have 2000 of those . If not I think it would be an advantage to my wallet to change out the nipples to one that do like 11's . Slix shot nipples will be my choice.

    ASM 1851 colt navy cap?

No ones change out the nipples since the gun has never been shot. I did try a #11 and it went on fine. Just didn't know if a 10 would also go on fine and be tighter.

    ASM 1851 colt navy cap?

I have a 1851 colt navy made in 1985 by asm . 44 cal. I have shot black powder guns (TC Hawken ) along time but never a pistol. I have ordered 454 round balls, wads and nipple wrench. Does anyone know what size caps these will use? Thanks

    woohoo!! Powder

I would just put a 5 lb order in with Powder inc. they will have a truck in by the end of April. So you could have it by the 1st week of may. That's what I did last mo. For goex it's min 5lb and it works out to $23.50 lb. that includes hazmat / also pick up some caps and that's included w /...

Yep, that's all you need to do.

    T/C 54 Cal Hawken

I use to pour my own REAL'S both sizes and use a felt wad, they just would not group tight out of my TC /1:48/54CAL.90gr. Goex. The maxi ball did ok,but not like the RB.

    T/C 54 Cal Hawken

I have the same gun from the same period of time. I used to shoot the 530 RB and had the same problem.Once I went to a 535 RB / .15 patch /90 gr.goex it shoots real good. Also mine only shoots good with Goex, the 777 and other powders just don't work like goex.

    Bob Hoyt, miracle worker

I find all this very interesting , due to I have been looking for a GM Barrel 1:70 for my TC .54 Could he re bore a 1:48 .54 To A 1:70 .54. Or would I have to go up another cal. in order for him to have more material to work with.

    Refinishing GPR Stock

I never used it either until 2 weeks ago, I think the key is you start with a sanded down stock , you put it on and let it set for 10 min. Then you wipe it down real good and let it set for 24hr. Then I used 0000 steel to wipe it down. Then I reapplied the tung oil and repeated the process 3...
