    overwelmed by finishes

    check out my photo In the finishing thread, I used dark walnut stain and tru oil . I got to the color I liked and buffed it back to the shine that I liked. It's all personal preference.

    More patch and lube questions

    I am not responding to any individual post. 1/3 murphys oil,1/3 peroxide and 1/3 rubbing alchaol makes a great patch lube. stored in a plastic snuff can :surrender: It is a great lube and cleans the barrel as well.

    It's a lot darker than in the picture.I was a little scared of the browning process,but, It turned out better than I thought it would. It was a fun build so that's all that matters.

    Thanks, I went with lmf brown. It'll be interesting to see the outcome. When its done I'll post a pic. First coat is brassy looking,but, We'll see what happens.

    I finally found a kit that I could afford.I finished the stock to my satisfaction, and sanded and polished all the metal to my liking. I assembled it all before browning, and, I like it in "the white". Is there any way to preserve that look or do I just go ahead and brown it?

    Sorry if I missed sumthing while searching.Is there a good flintlock kit still made. Obviously I'm new here and I don't want to flog a dead horse,But,I'm having a hard time finding one. Any help would be appreciated.(not the dead horse, a kit)
