    Handgonne Design Questions

FreekForge made me a great gonne in steel, 20 gauge (for common supplies, both ball and shot). I still need to make a grip for it. Now that the weather is turning, I hope to get it out to the club for a test drive.

    Walker .44 and Dragoon Revisions

Both Cabelas and MidwayUSA are generous with returns if you have a problem. Just try 'em ou right away.

    bp revolver

Sorry, was not thinking the peninsula. Might be closer to hit a location in Wisconsin... I am in the twin cities, and regularly hit three Ganders and three Cabelas (though not for cartridge weapons, as the pricing stinks). The Black Powder inventory of weapons and supplies varies tremendously...

    bp revolver

Good advice. Also, since you have three Cabelas in Michigan, it is probably worth a few hours drive to one of the stores. There is usually at least one guy on staff that knows BP well enough to chat up your questions. You'll quickly spend more than $200 on supplies and accessories. :blah: ...

New to me Navy Arms Screw Barrel

Found it! http://www.navyarms.com/files/derringer_manuel.pdf For any interested, 10-15 grains FFFG, .350 caliber ball with patch loaded at the muzzle. Now I just have to wait for 4-5 months of winter to pass to fire the sucker...

New to me Navy Arms Screw Barrel

This arrived today. Was a steal via Gunbroker seller, at around $75. Very clean, .36 caliber, about a six inch barrel (definitely larger than the current offering at Dixie) with brass furniture Took two strikes on the hammer each time of six tries to ignite the cap, but I couldn't seem to...

    roger and spencer

I let one go on GunBroker at $410 when I thought you could still get new at Dixie Gun Works. At least for the time being, new does not appear to be an option. Bought one on GB for $450 too late in the season to give it a try. Looking forward to Spring to give it a workout.

    Brass barrel Ketland repro

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that the Indian-manufacture models are shipped without a vent hole, thus dodging laws/tariffs at home and at the destination regarding firearms manufacture/export and eventual import. In fact, a retailer in Canada ships unfinished, where you need to...

Hackenbusch hand gonne from the rifle shop

Thanks, Jumpshot. Is there an alternate source you can recommend? Thanks to all for your comments.

    Parts for build?

Yes sir, the intended recipient is proficient with a modern 22 LR autoloading pistol. She has no interest in shooting rifles, and thinks my full size 9mm pussycat pistol kicks too much. She doesn't like my modern revolves, and is afraid of the BP revolvers. For any here who haven't been...

Uberti 1862 pocket not detonating caps

Btw, thanks To Zonie for the tip to buy a specific wrench and replacement nipples for the 1862. TotW had the former in stock, and the stuck nipple came out like butter. It didn't even strike me that the three other wrenches I owned wouldn't cover what I needed. We'll see if I can set the OEM...

    Will do.

    .36 caliber repro single shot?

Thanks for the suggestion, Bill. The 1849 is next on my list to fill in next to the Dragoon and the Navy. If I can get her comfy with the thought of a revolver, it is a definite candidate.

    .36 caliber repro single shot?

Thanks, MD. I actually have one that I haven't shot yet (crazy busy work kept me off the range mist of the season). When she was luke-warm on the Lyman, I dusted it off, cleaned it, couldn't get it to fire all chambers (on another thread, I won't bore you here). In any event, hope to have it...

    .36 caliber repro single shot?

:haha: And cheap at the local Fleet Farm.

    .36 caliber repro single shot?

That is the fallback, though she already complained the Navy is too heavy. Might try an 1862 Police as a slightly smaller alternative. She shoots a modern .22 autoloader quite well, but is anti-revolver. It only took me 20 years to get her to try shooting anything, and now I am going broke...

    .36 caliber repro single shot?

Pretty sure the suggestion of implementing your plan would earn me the whack you foresee. :slap:

    Parts for build?

Yes, something far less than the 7-10 inch barrel generally available on the market.
