    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

They can do that but I bet I will get sent a soft frizzen again. I've asked for a hardened frizzen and a new frizzen spring, if it is not here by the weekend I want a refund. It's been so frustrating!

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

The frizzen keeps getting burrs on it and the flints are being eaten up, with visible pieces coming off. The life of each flint is around 6 shots, and mis fires a lot. I think the best thing to do is get this item sent back and refunded - nothing but a nightmare.

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

Seem to be getting better results now and longer flint life too! Just out of curiosity, is it normal for small bits of flint to come off when you pull the trigger?

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

I think you were right my friend - I've put some leather under the back of the flint (under it) and the flint tilts downward more so now, and seems to scrape rather than smash against the frizzen. End result is more sparks, and a lot less pieces of flint flying everywhere! :D

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

Yes it's an Indian made lock. The frizzen spring is not sitting flat against the lock plate (as per my first photo on first page of this thread). The frizzen isn't sitting straight to me it seems to be leaning towards the barrel. What's the best way to remedy this?

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

Thanks for your response - much appreciated. Frizzen spring removed and frizzen flops around freely and doesn't seem to be touching the barrel now which is good. Spring still doesn't sit flat against the plate which is annoying. I have contacted the supplier and informed them of the problem I...

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

It is doing so - the leading edge hitting the frizzen flat and pushing downwards. I've given up now and shall be returning the rifle for a refund from the supplier :'(

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

Thanks guys for your help. The rifle is purchased from Henry Krank, and it was brand new. I have checked the frizzen and it moves freely once the frizzen spring has a vice one it so it has to be the spring. I have polished the two contacting surfaces and it does feel lighter however the flints...

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

I've seeked advice from other members and they say that the Problem is the frizzen is too stiff, and possibly not hardened. I'll take the frizzen off and file the part the touches the spring underneath, and polish the two edges where they meet, and see how I get on.

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

Hello, It's my first flintlock I've owned although I've used some before. The flint is installed correctly, and striking flat against the frizzen. I've taken the frizzen off and polished it up and and filed the bottom of it away (where it touches the spring). How would you go about...

    Stiff frizzen & shattering flints

Hello Chaps, First visit to this forum, and I'm hoping you can lend some experience to me. I have recently purchased a reproduction baker rifle to use in my re-enactment group (5/60th royal American rifles), but I'm experiencing a few problems: 1) each time I pull the trigger, bits of the...
