    Pennsylvania laws / black powder

The store clerk was absolutely right about not shaking the can, very dangerous. Of course I assume that the top was off and you were holding it beneath your chin while carelessly smoking a cigarette? :nono:

    Shipping a Muzzleloader UPS

I ship real (under that law that is  ) firearms through UPS often and there's never even a bat of the eye over the fact that its a rifle. This is through the actual UPS plant though. I was told never to go to the UPS stores, and haven't yet tried. As far as protecting yourself with...

    Drill-pres mills?

Don't know if they're in Oregon but Harbourfreight sells small ones of the above for 500-600 depending on what you want to do.

    Finally did it

Ya I had remembered that from here as well, However felt little uneasy about doing it. So put the screw tip on the rod, and pulled the ball out instead. Luckly it came out with two people pulling each way.

    Finally did it

Haven't posted in a long time, but with school out for the summer went out with the rifle finaly and did what(after reading about it here) I thought wouldn't happen to me. Jammed the ball home. Put the cap on. Took aim. Small bang, nothin. Hmmm maybe hole is plugged with fouling. . .then it...

Curious because in some posts on the forum seemed to be some negative comments about Potassium--but haven't seen anything commented on with it being used together. Thanks...

Follow up to taking the plunge and thank you

Big thank you to "Bill of the 45th Parallel" and thanks to all the great help from everyone. Bill sent me free of charge an original CVA getting started book. I'd thank him in private but thought I would repay him in a small way by reinforcing for everyone what a cool guy he is :thanks...

    Took the plunge

Wow gonna have to print this out. The rifle I ordered was from Track of the Wolf, a 99 dollar one that needed some woodworking done on it. I mostly have Enfields, and from a collecting standpoint--(for myself, not gonna drop any experts outa their seats with my samples) its a amazing lineage...

    Took the plunge

Being mostly a WW1/WW2 rifle collector and shooter, I've ordered a cheap CVA Kentucky 45cal percussion rifle having had no experience at all with muzzleloading or black powder. What does a youngin like me need to get started? I see thunderridge has a basics list and I've ordered the "complete...
