    Caywood's rifles..your thought's

I bought a caywood trade gun 62 cal last year and love the way it feels and shoots. It was my first smoothbore and after only 3 or 4 shots to figure out the sight picture {without a rear sight} it shot as well as my custom rifles. I liked it so well that I had Danny build me an English game gun...

    Hern Revolutionary war howitzer

Thanks Wes; With the size of the barrel I guess the carriage would have been fairly small and thus easy to handle, then and now. With the 3" bore would vegetable cans filled with concrete would be the ammo of choice. with the short smooth barrel would it have enough accuracy to be used in...

    Hern Revolutionary war howitzer

I am brand new to cannons but can't resist any longer.I wanted to get a full size cannon or mortar for possible reinactment but mostly just fun. I see Hern iron works makes a rev. war howitzer 3" bore 25" long 90# for $631.00 Since its so short would that be mounted on a carriage like a cannon...

    Jug choke

Does anyone have any expierence with a jug choke? I have a new Caywood trade gun 20 ga and had them jug choke the barrel. I dont know if its PC but since its all internal it doesn't matter. It patterns turkey loads real nice at 25 yds and shoots 600 rb like a rifle.

    Whitworth

The Whitworth would be a great long range gun! The reason the were never widely used by the military was the very slow rate of fire due to the fact that they are difficult to load after the first shot. Great for snipers though. The Whitworth is on my wish list of ML guns, maybe someday i will...

    Is Longer Really Better?

Mike The reason that gun shoots better is that the ball is half way to the target when it leaves the barrel :rotf: Just how long is that thing anyway  Neat looking gun though. :hatsoff:
