Anyone going tp Alafia rendezvous in fla Jan 14-22 Its the 35th put on by the florida frontiersmen. Im not much of a cook but have a bunch of venison to trade for a meal or two. Hope to see some of yall their

I will be there from the 11th. to the bitter cold, windy, wet and sunny end. Hope to be camped on the corner of Wolf Track and Chester Way-or in that area. All the streets are named for easy location. Come by and say hello, and if I am cooking on the first Saturday...night...you are welcome to a meal. I am haveing Chicken-a-la-Holley with a bread pudding desert. Can feed one more. There is a small group of us who camp together and cook. What type of venison are you talking??? :hmm: Oh! ask for Linda Holley

Linda. I cant wait to get back to Fl. I was there last week and set my tent up early, dont know the st names but its over by the range. I have a home in St Pete but im at work now in Grand Cayman and probably cant get up until the 14th. As for venison I have hams, ground meat and the best back strap. I have attended on and off for 25yrs as a day visitor but this is the first time camping. I need just about everything I have a wall tent and one PC change of clothes. The traders will be glad to see me coming. But I do have 16 ML guns I guess you know where my priorities have been. Looking forward to meeting you Larry Bang

Larry, if you look at the roads I gave you, you will find me. Where you are camped is far past where my camp is. If you look to the left on the main road, two or so blocks down and two in...I maybe there.

I was one of the original camps when we started the Primitive Rend. In 1979....They say it is the 35th. year...actually, it did not start as the Alafia Rendezvous untill 1984...then later, for some reason I still have not fathomed...it jumped some years in one to the time given...so it is really only the 26th or 27th. But hey, what is in a number....I just love to needle the Alafia staff.:shocked2:
Love the traders.....I will be seting up a trade blanket myself. Getting rid of excess materials.

I plan on going with my daughter and some friends for a day. It will be our first visit to an Alafia rendevous. Lookin' forward to it,too! :)

Hey look me up when you get there, Larry Bang real name not a persona but easy for people to remember :rotf:

When are the "public" days so that flatlanders like me can visit? I may try for a kitchen pass from the boss...

PORK CHOP I think the public days are the last two days the 21st and 22nd To make sure check out there web site where you can also down load a map. floridafrontiersmen.com See you there

Hope to see you there, Mr. Bang! I think I can remember the name

Thanks! I checked it out and the days for the flatlanders are the 20th through the 22nd!

Well, it sounded good! :haha: Don't worry though, my running buddy is about your age and I have to work hard to keep up with him despite the fact I'm fifteen years his junior :shocked2: He gets a big laugh from the fact that he can now call me "Grandpa" :shocked2: and I can't call him that!

If you want to try to find my camp...I will be flying a TMA flag....somewhere on my awning.

This is probably a dumb question but what is TMA  Down here in the islands it means too much alcohol

TMA = Traditional MuzzleLoading Association. Tipis - are you a field rep for the TMA?

Yes! for Florida. But I cannot get on the web site because it will not take my passes or nothing. But at least you can see the flag I have. :blah:

Sheesh...I grew up not far from the Alafia, but didn't have any interest at the time, so never went. :( Wish I could make it. Maybe the wifey and I will plan for next year along with a visit to family in the area...call it a vacation.

Well, at least I can snicker that you folks will probably be colder than I. We're having a nice Indian Summer with temps in the mid to high 50's with single digit humidity! :blah:

What is single digit humidity  I think I have heard about it, isn't that where your skin starts to look like a gator and your nose dries up and bleeds :rotf:

I haven't been to rendezvous in over 10 years, but I decided to go to this one. I'll be the fat old fart carrying a flint hawkin--that ought to make me easy to identify.
Linda, as Fla TMA rep you ought to host a TMA gettogether one evening--serve light ordeuvres and white wine, or something.

If things work out, I will be the fat flatlander with a bad case of salt and pepper hair carrying a CVA Mountain or an Investarm Hawken. Either way, I hope to be there!
