    New Traditions Kentucky rifle…problem!

Well, after several months, I have my rifle back from Traditions. They replaced the rear stock piece. The finish is a close match to the front stock. Opened the box, looked it over, and put it back in the box. Think I'll just keep using the Hawken.

Which story is most movie worthy?

You want to get young folks interested in blackpowder and the old mountain man ways, its got to be over the top type stuff. Beside guns my other hobby is miniature painting. Recently, a figure designer came out with a line of files to create a set of figures. The main hero is a mountain man...

Great Plains .54 Caliber / Investarm Gemmer Hawken Rifle - Hawken Plains Rifle

What's the twist rate of the barrels? Some of the 50's, have twist rate that's not good for a ball, better suited for sabots. For ball ammo, look for a 1/45 or higher ( bigger the second number the better for a ball). Less than 1/45, better for sabot. I shot a 50 cal.. Here in Georgia, we...

    Look what followed me home....

I found a Hawken at a semi local gun shop. It's an old Ithaca / Navy Arms Hawken in 50 cal. Everything is in great shape. I you find the set trigger takes a bit of pulling to set it. I've opened her up and everything looks good in the trigger assy and lock.
