REAL Bullets in T/C 45 caliber

Blizzard, Currently using "1995 Lube" sourced from Paul Matthews 2 parts yellow beeswax 1 part Pure Neatsfoot Oil 1 part Murphy’s Oil Soap I "finger lube" each bullet as I load them and keep paper towels handy to wipe off fingers. Only tested @ 25yds, best load provided this group. Since...

REAL Bullets in T/C 45 caliber

Noted: Stick NOTHING on the bullet base. The 300gr HB are cast from pure lead and do not require any sizing. Source of pure lead is sticky wheel weight that I've accumulated over the years.

REAL Bullets in T/C 45 caliber

Firstly, I want to thank everyone for the help I'm receiving from this forum. Thanks for the pressure warning Ron, I will definitely back off the amount of volume charge. I am using wads cut from denim jeans and sticking them to the bullet base with lube (lube recipe found on this forum). The...

REAL Bullets in T/C 45 caliber

Ron, While I've got your attention, will the 200gr be enough for deer @ 50yds or should I use a heavier pill? Thanks, Marty

REAL Bullets in T/C 45 caliber

Ron, I measured it last night after reading some post. Cleaning rod rotates 1/2 turn from bore to plug, so I have a 1-66 twist rate. Price was right, kit was given to me and now that I've gotten my feet wet, I'm really enjoying it  Marty

REAL Bullets in T/C 45 caliber

Ron, Very interesting to see the group you got with the 250's;-) Very similar results with the 200's. The sure cut a clean hole in targets.

    Sight advice-CVA Kentucky

Quick follow-up on how the buckhorn peep is working out. Pro: Sight has a definite advantage over stock sight for quick target acquisition in low light and adjustments for vertical and horizontal POA worked, have them set to shoot 2.5" high @ 50yds. Should be a great sight for hunting purposes...

REAL Bullets in T/C 45 caliber

I've been shooting the 200 grain Reals in a 45 CVA. 50yd groups are sub 2" using 70gr volume of Pyrodex RS. BP is hard to find in my area, but based from other post I've read FFFG is the preferred powder of a lot of 45cal BP shooters. I picked up some Triple 7 FFFG and current load for same...

    CVA Nipples?

Agreed;-) Another thing to remember when doing this is to place the hammer in the half cock position. Using this method of loading I have not had a single misfire in my 45cal CVA, even when using FFG.

    Sight advice-CVA Kentucky

Wanted to share some picks with sights installed. Need to figure out how I can get both distances in focus at the same time, pics really don't do justice to how well sights look. Consolidated photos to save space. Hopefully they will hold up well, hope to get em sighted in and tested this week.

Well I made the order for the V-Peep, so I guess I'll have to try that first. It's also is inline with my current budget.

    Sight advice-CVA Kentucky

Thank you gentlemen for the input. Primary concern is hunting, target shooting is secondary. The tang is short on this barrel and I see no way to mount a sight there without drilling into the barrel. RMC Sports has advise their V-Peep uses existing dove tail cuts, so I will probably give them a...

    Sight advice-CVA Kentucky

I have a CVA Kentucky 45cal that I would like to mount an adjustable rear sight to that works for old eyes. I ordered the Williams WGRS peep think it would fit existing dovetail cut out and was wrong. I saw the post regarding the RMC V-Peep, but it too appears to require drilling and tapping...

    new favorite wood glue

I have to vote with the previous post on epoxy. The real trick is to get it to spread evenly. Best method I have found is to apply the epoxy on one side and used compressed air to blow it through the crack/split and impossible to reach areas, wipe off all the excess. Shoot the air the opposite...
