Just need some advice on shot loads for my cylinder bore 12ga. I'm using the thin overshot cards only. I have tried 60 grains of powder 2 os cards and equal amount of shot with 1 os card, and 70 grains of powder 4 os cards and equal amount of shot with 1 os card. With the 60 grains powder I'm getting anywhere from 10-15 shot on a 9in paper plate at 25 yds, and with 70 grains of powder I'm getting around 20 shot on 9in paper plate at 25 yds. Is that about right or should I be getting more shots in the plate?

25 yds is about the limit for a cylinder bore. You might try 80 grs of 2f powder, 4 thin overshot cards, 1 1/4oz(90grs) of shot, and an overshot card. More shot than powder normally will tighten the pattern up some.

I had good results with 75grs FF three OS cards thin ones.1 OZ of #6 shot with one OS card. I think I will have to try 1 1/4 oz as I think Rebel had sujested on a earlier post. Good luck. Oh I think mine is improved cylinder.

Change to a 3-4 loading and run your tests again. My favorite is 60 of powder and 80 of shot. It is the perfect small game load out of my gun.

Rebel, Hacksaw, and Runner thanks for the help I'll try it maybe tomorrow. Seems like from y'alls advice I need to add more shot. Thanks again.

Stan, me being simple like- I just measure a weight of shot I,m gonner use and then just fill the same measure to 3/4 of powder.
Usually this is sufficient for most hunting, sometimes more is not better
With just cards as wads speed still seems acheivable.
