Hello All. Still thinning the herd. Yet another French pistol I hate selling......
PISTOL: 1690's French Cavalry Pistol. Assembled from The Rifle Shoppe Kit #812. Builder unknown.
LOCK: Unmarked and unbridled. Functions fine. Not even test sparked. Internals as-new.
STOCK: Wood unknown. Probably walnut. It has an almost black finish, which IMHO looks so good on guns pre-1700.
BARREL: 12" Octagon tapered to round. .50 caliber. Bore is mint and unfired. But NOTE: THE BORE HAS SHALLOW GROOVE RIFLING. I know it's supposed to be smooth bore. Have no idea how it came out this way. Must be one of those TRS mysteries (?) (I have a 1640-ish English pistol with the same rifled barrel). Anyway, the rifling is perfect. Barrel maker unknown, but probably Colerain. You don't notice the rifling from the muzzle end at glance. You have to look into the bore.
FEATHERS: All hardware is iron. Antique type finish overall. This pistol is very slim and light weight. Looks like an original in photos. A rare pistol to find second-hand and in new condition.
PRICE: $725.00 - shipped to the lower 48-states. Feel free to ask any questions. And thanks for looking. Sorry, no trades. Thanks, Rick.
