So I am building from a kit, a Pedersoli 1766 Charleville musket. I hope you can see it in the pictures, but the centerline of the **** sits a good bit "inboard" of the centerline of the frizzen. When flint is in place, if the flint is "squared up" in the **** jaw, the flint will strike a bit of the barrel. If you adjust the flint out, then it appears to kind of "hang off the edge" of the jaws. I am considering shimming the hammer outward with a small and smooth washer so that everything is centered up. Is this advisable, has anyone else done this or have any experience doing it?? This is a very nice piece, but the lock geometry seems "wonky" to me. Thanks!!!
