Hi all!
I just picked up an 1847 Walker from Cabelas up in Pennsylvania yesterday. It was love at first sight; once the salesman put it in my hand, I couldn't part without it.
Today I had a chance to completely disassemble it and clean it, in preparation for the range tomorrow. I have a question about the left side of the hammer.
If you look at the left side of the hammer, there is a protrusion/integral pin below the hammer screw hole which the bolt's two prongs interacts with to unlock the cylinder during half cock and the locks it during full cock. This protrusion looks like it has been filed down possibly too much at the factory (maybe); it barely arises from the left side surface of the hammer.
While the gun functions well during cycling of the cylinder through the cocking of the hammer, I was just wondering if this protrusion/integral pin is supposed to be filed down almost to the surface of the hammer. I would think that it should be at least long enough to interact with both prongs of the bolt that ride on it, rather than just one of them.
Does anyone have an 1847 Walker which they could check this? I went to VTI gun parts; but you can only view the right side of the hammer; I need to view the left side for this protrusion/integral pin. Thanks in advice.
Kindest Regards,
