1st Bag, Critiques please

I finally have this bag almost finished. It is a comtemporary style bag. Thank to Swamp Rat for the outside pocket tutorial and Half Moon Ranger for the bag pattern. I came out ok, I would like to do better in the future, so all suggestions, criticisms are welcome. The bag is made of 8oz leather, way to heavy, but I didn't want to start over. The flap is 3-4 oz on the inside with hair-on on the outside. This is my first card woven strap. It is made of cotton yarn. The knife is a Redwood blade from Northcoast Knives. I just reshaped the handle to get rid of the finger gooves.

I got the pattern from this site. I just changed the colors.... His tabletweaver program is pretty good as well. I played with it until I got the results that I wanted.

Snake-eyes, yes, I did the weaving for the strap. This was my first card weaving project. I wove a short 2ft section out of acrylic, just to figure out what I was doing. Then I wove the strap that you see.

Rick, yes, I did hand stich this. I used one of the spacing wheels that Tandy sells. I used the coarsed wheel, 5 stiches per inch. Then I used a awl to pre-punch all the holes.

now you went and did it, you just had to make your first one didnt you. now if your like the rest of us its all down hill from here on your going to make another to see if its better than the last (not that theres anything at all wrong with your first) soon you will have more bags then rifles and when you pick up another rifle you are going to just go ahead and make another one so just keep on stitching and be sure to post pictures.

Very nice work. :thumbsup: The only things I would suggest would be to use an edge beveller on your raw edges (like the top scallop edge on the flap) and that sometimes it may be necessary to angle the straps just a tad depending on the body type of the wearer.
