I came across a hawkens that looked ok. I think it may have been a kit. All looks good but phillips head screws were used on some parts. Every thing works fine. Barrel is good, inside very clean just not blued.
Rod looks like what maybe called a wonder rod.

The kits came with the brass parts attached with steel Philips head screws so you don't mess up the pretty brass screws in the process of all the sanding/filing/rasping you do in finishing it.
