Hi All,

I just acquired a 28 ga. flintlock, spanish made and am new to this. My questions are, what loads should I use, shot size, powder amount etc.. The bore measures 0.544 at the muzzle, what choke might this be? And can I shoot a patched round ball from this gun?

60 grains of BP in FFg or FFFg with 3/4 ounce of shot (7.5 to 8.5 shot) would be a very logical starting point, and it approximates a 28 gauge target load (well that might be 65 grains). It is best to experiment.

In mine I shoot 50 gr of 2f and equal volume of shot.

I used two over shot cards over the powder and one over the shot.

rd ball should be 526 or 530 diameter with 15-18 th patch. start at 60 gr. 3f and work up from there. should get pie plate size groups at 50 yards.

what do you use foe cards and how to make them?

I don’t make them, but I have using a wad punch. Now I just buy them, but I do have a set of wad punches if get the urge.

This is what I use. Circle Fly Wads http://circlefly.com/html/products.html

.025” Overshot Card, 1000 count bag, $9.00

Two over the powder and one over the shot, works very well for me, I shoot 50 gr of 2f and equal volume of shot.
