I don’t think I’ve ever read about anyone using 2F in pistols. I know most generally use 3F powder but do any of you shoot 2F powder in cap and ball revolvers ? With the latest powder issued I’m concerned as I have more 2F than 3F.
I can’t see why it wouldn’t work just fine.

I have seen lots of youtube videos where folks are using 2f. The lyman manuals contains 2f pistol data if I am not mistaken. I have never done it but I would without having any reservations.

That is all I use. Even in the 36cals it does fine and very accurate out to 50 yards.

When I was lucky enough to hunt with my grandfather I can't remember if any 3f, 2f, I'm sure it was probably written on the can somewhere. which was actually a metal container. I do remember being asked to hand him the gun powder.
I remember a reference to cannon powder and think there was a tin of it around the old homestead, 1955 was around the year. The cannon powder got used after being put in a wooden mortise and ground down for the shotguns. That cannon powder was big flakes.

I think any black powder will work in any black powder gun. Just more efficiently in some rather than others. Try it all and see what happens.

As he said, there is no such thing as a wrong answer with blackpowder. I only ever keep 1Fg in my powder horn, and I often just use that on my pistols. It works fine in my Ruger Old Army.
