30 years on Prudence Island.....

I took my 7th deer off the Island with a Flintlock. All I saw was one coyote going to stand in the morning and one deer at 5:55pm Tuesday night. I have to admit to shedding a tear or two sitting on stand, it's the most painful thing I've done. Sitting up from 4:00am to 9:30pm was pretty rough. I miss judged the size of the deer but I don't care. We got it done, caught the morning ferry early the next morning and was home in time for PT to come work on my shoulder. She said my rotor cuff and shoulder was a mess and gave me hell. Oh well, I'll behave until at least mid November.

I made a page, has some High res videos, anyone able to down load then will see I wasn't in very good shape but I lived through it. :wink:

I gotta admire your stamina and patience. Heck I can't sit in a duck blind half a day, so with or without the recovery you're going through, that long a stint in a blind is a story in itself.

And I gotta tell you.... The best thing about our liberal bag limit is we can shoot several small ones to come up with enough meat for winter. And I'll take a small one instead of a rack any day. You got some prime eats waiting for you, and that's my bottom line.

Those are some wonderful images. I need to take a day trip to Prudence one of these days. It does look like a treestand may not be the best means of hunting with the size of the trees. It appears many trees are shrub like vs tall and straight like that on the mainland.

By the way. Did you see the snow yesterday?

Seven fuzed vertebrae?!?!?! I can't believe you made it out there...even after almost three months after your surgery. However, I can't blame you. I had back surgery in 2007 and was up and running doing the things I like in two weeks. Obviously, I didn't have a vertebrae fusion and I got off easy with a discectomy.

So, congrats on the hunt. You deffinitely earned this one. :thumbsup:

Oh god, I am so glad to be home I gotta tell ya's. :thumbsup: Wished it was bigger but it's prime meat for sure and it gave me a great shot. The gun preformed flawlessly btw. I don't even remember the shot :haha: flash, nothing but the deer folding up.

Bigbore, theres actually tree stands all over, maybe not where I was but there are enough tress for them. I actually had a couple of ladder stands near where I was watching the biggest white oak. Bow hunters usually start this past weekend putting up their stands, I was surprised I did not see any but that maybe due to basically no deer being there the last two or three years. It is bouncing back though I'm told but I only saw one deer myself alive and one coyote. I do know a spike, a 100lb Doe and a 6 point were taken besides mine.

No snow but I did find out my blind is water proof except what comes through the windows. :haha: As it did rain on and off after noonish, heavy at one point. Boy yhat didn't help the ole back either dang it.

The PT is due any second and I'll probably sleep a few hours after a nice massage. :grin: Knew there was a reason I wanted to come home early.

Anyone able to download those big videos? I tried to make them smaller but I just could not.

That is a fine deer, regardless of size. I can't imagine spending that much time sitting in a chair, much less doing it out in the wild in bad weather, etc. :surrender: :hatsoff:

I am on cable and some take over 20 sec to load ya, sorry. But the one I was hoping you saw was the Limulus Lodge vid and if you download the "Arriving" vid you'll see how I was hurting.

I wanted good vids and have to read up on the settings, see if I can make vids smaller megs without sacrificing quality.

Yeah I just heard from a couple of people, if you have patiance and let the video down load, they will play. It does take some time for those on DSL. Cable shouldn't be to bad but still, most are around 100 megs and the biggest I believe is 166 megs.
