I was lucky to find a used unfired cherokee today. Luckier still was the price of 249.00 and on my birthday too. Is there anything I should be aware of with this rifle. It has a manual but I sometimes find things on this forum that the manual doesnt tell. All info appreciated, TBONE

i love the cherokees...have a pair of .32's meself, and a pair of 45's too.

good shooters and handy little rifles, only thing i would caution is when loading a tight patch/ball combination that thin ramrod is easy to break if you are trying to long stroke it.

i shoot 310 RB's mostly & have killed a slew of squirrels with mine.

did you get a single trigger or double trigger model?

congrats on a GREAT find, and happy birthday!

Gerald

Yes there is something you should be aware of: namely, that you have your own personal angel guiding your affairs. Be careful, the lottery is next!

It is only a single trigger but I was happy to find it. By the way can this be converted to a set trigger?

They use to make Cherokee's with double set triggers, I owned one that way. Not sure who still makes a double trigger for it, but it can be done.

Get a good range rod and do your loading with that and you won't break the ram rod. I didn't know the Cherokee's came with double set triggers until recently I saw a post saying so. The Cherokee I have had the single trigger and the youth lenght stock. I just traded stocks with another member here for a longer stock and the new stock has the double set triggers. I have the TC peep sight that goes with this rifle as well. Can't wait for the new stock to get here. Squirrel season opens Saturday.
