Need some ideas for a convienant way to hold pre-measured powder so it can be poured directlly into the itty-bitty .32cal bore without the need for a funnel.

Everything I have is better suited for .45/.50cal bore size, so trying to get all the powder into such a small bore is time consuming when shooting at the range.

Basically I want something similar to the popular speed loader but just to hold powder in.

Bottleneck .30 caliber centerfire cartridge case with a wood plug. Use a pencil sharpener to work a dowel tip to shape and then cut them off at enough of a length to make a plug.

That's what I carry my primimg powder in, too. :winking:

Stumpkiller,

Thanks for the tip. I have several hundred 30-30 cases on hand, I poured up a 30gr charge and it fits just below the neck. Now all I need to do is fashon a plug and I will have plenty of reusable charge holders for lots and lots of shooting.

Again, thanks for the tip.

And that's how the 30-30 got it's name. It was originally supposed to be a black powder cartrige, and the charge was 30 grains of powder with a 30 cal bullet. Bill

For the range, I would think you would have a small funnel that you could put into the muzzle, and then dump the powder charge down the funnel. I have been using an adjustable powder measure with a funnel attached for more than 30 years, and they are now sold by Tedd Cash. Worth the money. If you are going to use the .30-30 casings, look around at hardware stores, or some gift shops for corks for small bottles. I found one to fit in an Antique's store. Obviously, take a casing with you to try them out, and then buy what you need. They last a long time.
