Hi All
Could I be able to put a 36 cal barrel on my CVA Kentucky 45 cal long rifle. It has a two piece full stock. It is a kit rifle, don't think that would make a difference though. If so, any ideas where to get one reasonable or used. Thanks

You should be able to build one. Those rifles came in .45 only back then. I doubt you could find any kind of drop-in in .36 for it.

As I remember those had a 7/8" barrel. You would need to find a barrel that size and cut it to length you need. You would also have to get a breechplug and file the tang to the same size as the CVA. You would also have to install a drum. Work on the barrel would involve installing underlugs in the right spots and, as I remember, drilling and tapping two blind holes in the end to hold on the nose cap.

It could be done but I don't know if it would be worth it. You could probably pick up a used Pedersolli or other rifle in .36 for the same cost in money and aggravation.

Mike pretty much nailed it. The Kentucky started out being offered as a 7/8" 45 caliber 1:66 percussion or flint model, and ended up offered only as a 7/8" 50 caliber 1:66 percussion.

I don't remember CVA offering any 36 caliber traditional rifle barrels except on the Squirrel rifle... and maybe the Bobcat.
