IMHO the Seneca is a much better built, higher quality rifle than the Cherokee. I have had them both and find the only reason to pursue a Cherokee is to find one in 32 caliber. That is only because there was never a Seneca factory made in that small desirable caliber. I really believe that the current high market prices for the Cherokee is over the top, especially in 45 caliber.

Not true - I had a .32 Seneca that evidently came out of the T/C Custom Shop, due to having high-polish blueing & upgraded wood.

I only sold it because it was a P.I.T.A. for me to load with my fat fingers.

Here's another .32 Seneca, that sold a few years ago: http://www.gunauction.com/buy/10644212

Having owned several of both over the years, IMHO there is zero difference between fit/finish of Cherokee's & Seneca's.

The only difference I can observe, beside barrel lengths, is that Seneca's have a patchbox & forend cap, while Cherokee's do not.

Pete, I may stand corrected but I never considered a rifle coming out of the Custom Shop a standard production rifle. I cannot get your link to the 32 Seneca that sold to come up for me. Until I see actual proof of a Seneca in 32 caliber made by Thompson Center, I will have to take the "I'm from Missouri" stance on this. Any one with an actual rifle in hand or good pictures please come forward!

IME, one gets what one pays for.

There's just no comparison between a Crockett & a Seneca - unless of course, all one cares about is slinging lead.

Anyone can find a .32 Seneca via googling "TC Seneca .32 for sale"

OR, anyone can look in the T/C booklet "Loading & Shooting Muzzleloading Rifles" for the listed .32 cal Cherokee and Seneca loads.

Wow so when my son and his buddy got there 2 Seneca's for $600 we got a pretty good deal. My sons is a .45 and his buddies is a .36! My sons has the fanciest stock I've ever seen on a t/c. Lots of burl and character in the wood. Beautiful rifles!!
