I keep tabs over on Gunbroker about what these are selling for. Yesterday I see that a 36 Seneca sold for 795.00! That has to be a record. Surely a fluke, but a record for sure!

Saw a new one at the New Ulm trade fair yesterday that had a tag of 1000.00 on it. flinch

Hi Flinch, ya I've seen em priced very high but they never actually sold. The one on GB did sell for 795.00!

.

For every 1,000 Seneca/Cherokee made in .45cal, I doubt that more than 5 or 6 were made in .36cal, along with about 25 in .32cal.

I wouldn't take a cent less than $700 for my pristine .36, IF I'd sell it at all - It took me too long to come across one in person (many years).

Can't say that I blame ya at all Pete. That's a fine little squirrel getter. Beautiful shape too.

That 795.00 Seneca is a record from what I have seen or read. In a quick Gunbroker search it looks like a .36 Seneca sold not long ago for $650.00.

This is why I like gun shows. At several recent gun shows there has been a nice .36 Seneca offered for $475 with no takers. Probably it could have been bought for less.

Not really looking to buy another Seneca. I just like to keep tabs on the market place. Seeing what they are going for lately has kind of given me a guilt complex! A bit over a year ago I bought a very nice 36 and a 45 from an old friend who's father in law had passed and left them to him. He had absolutely no use for anything traditional in muzzle loading. I studied the market back then and thought that my offer of 600 for the pair was quite FAIR. Now, I kind of feel I may have taken some advantage. Ahhhhhh.....he and I were happy with the deal at the time...so! :idunno:

The Seneca and Cherokee are two models in the TC line that seem to not show up a lot. I have a Big Boar that is in rough shape on the outside but shoots great another one not seen much.
I seldom buy a firearm as an investment beyond enjoying as long as I have life left in me.

By the way I have 2 Seneca's. 2 Cherokee's 2 hawken's and a Big Boar.

Wonder if one could get S&W to give up manufacturing rights to the Seneca and Cherokee.

My son just bought a 36 Seneca for $300 about 3 months ago. It's in great shape. Guess he got a better deal than I thought.

Excellent idea considering what they're bringing on the used market. Beauty of them is you can go as low as 15 grains FFFg and get velocity comparable to a .22 LR with descent accuracy.

He is so exited for opening day of squirrel season that is all he talks about. When he's not practicing his mouth call for turkey season.😃

Not like a 36 Seneca IMHO I sold my shop 5 years ago and a Seneca barrel was worth $350-400 then, never mind the whole rifle. Collectors are nuts I guess. When an good maker will supply what caliber you want for less.

Some shooters go beyond the bore size, in what they desire.

IME, no maker I know of, good OR bad, can/will make a down-sized (thinner barrel, slender stock, smaller lock, etc) that's as petite as the T/C Cherokee's/Seneca's were/are, at an affordable price.

Around where I live, expect to pay $450. to $550. for a nice Cherokee or Seneca. The Seneca used to sell higher than the Cherokee, but because either one is so difficult to find, the prices have soared. I traded a Hawken and $75. for my so-so Cherokee. It was a good deal, because I paid $100 for the Hawken. The Cherokee has a ruff bore, but still shoots, good groups. It is a .32 cal.
