So today I proved it to myself. Great sit. About 8:30 a few deer started working through the woods toward my ambush on a steep hill looking into the creek bottom. Lead doe stopped perfect broadside 45 yards. The 40 caliber SMR floated onto target, like I was along for the ride. The set trigger broke clean, 60 grains 3F pushed the home cast patched round ball to the target.
It clipped back on the onside shoulder meat, no bone hit, blew thew the top of heart, shredded the lungs, and shattered shoulder on far side.
She jumped at the shot, bounced as well as she could for less than 10 yards and dropped.
I have shot tons of deer with bigger guns that traveled much farther. Granted I had no exit, but trailing this one was no problem.
First of my Kiblers to down big game. Thanks Jim, and to all the people that help here.
