Thursday afternoon I got a doe with my .45 flintlock I purchased from the classifieds here a couple months ago. Used .440 round ball with 75 grains 3f schuetzen.

I was hunting along a recently planted gas line that still has young green grass on it, and about 7 does came out to feed near sunset. Shot the closest one, about 40 yards quartering to. Ball entered just in front of shoulder and stopped under skin mid-ribs on other side. Doe ran 50-60 yards and left a pretty good blood trail. The shot appeared to take out the arteries at the front of the heart. There was blood on the side where the ball stopped, so it must have just cut the skin.

Pic looks kinda like a young one with a short nose, but that's just because the head is so big. My first thought when I walked up to it was it might be a shed buck.
