Yes, you can cut the sprue off right at the ball and load it on top. It will provide fine accuracy

Lee will make molds to special order. Contact them for price. A few years ago a friend and I ordered a pair for our smoothbore muskets, and mine is still working great.

I heard that Lee's specialty shop is essentially shut down and that they are only allowing orders from 3-4 long time vendors . They are using their specialty workers to help catch up on production work. You might not be able to get them to make you a mold just yet. Erasgonebullets.com is where I got this information.
