I purchased an unfired JBMR awhile ago and finally had some time today to clean it up and address some issues. I decided to polish the brass because a previous owner put a coat of shellac or varnish on the brass. Maybe the rifle came like that new? There was tarnish forming under that coating and it looked terrible. Almost to the point of pitting in a couple of spots. The under rib screws were starting to corrode. The single trigger mechanism is quite interesting. I really like it. I'll let build up a natural patina now. Maybe! Lol.
I think I will shoot it.
The ramrod is on the way.

Now that you've polished the brass, you will never have to do it again😄 At least that the way I handle it.
