I arrived in Boone, NC in 1970. There were few deer in the NW Appalachian mountains at that time. I taught 30 years at App State always living in the city. Now the deer are so plentiful we can’t keep flowers or grow A garden. By law, I cannot use a firearm in the city limits. I can however use a bow or crossbow but it’s so messy And neighbors don’t enjoy seeing a dead deer in their yard. My .625 homebuilt flintlock smoothbore however will drop‘em where they stand. Just need to be sure about a backstop. Going to petition the city fathers about the adoption of an extended season through an urban hunting designation and allowing muzzleloader use of appropriate size, etc. what say ye?

Philadelphia suburbs are over populated with deer. So are the city parks and I have heard of city paid hunters thinning those herds. Accidents involving suicidal deer are common.

Knew a guy in Chester County who was so fed up with landscape damage that he used a silenced .22 unmentionable to kill quite a few in his yard, so I expect your flintlock will be more than adequate.

My wife caught me staring at the pics and thought I was looking at naked super models. I guess I had the same kind of look on my face?

It will print one ragged hole off a bench. The white lightning flash hole liner and Emig improved ignition creates a very fast lock time. I think the gun actually discharges before the hammer falls, since as soon as the flint hits the frizzen the sparks begin to shower.
May I ask where you purchased your touch hole liner?

The liner is Jim Chamber's White Lightning. I use 75 grains of 3FG, a .010 greased patch and a .530 round ball. I was pleased enough with the 75 yard offhand target to post it, but off a bench at 50 yards it will literally cut the X out of the target.

The president of a shooting club I was in years ago put two big gun safes in his basement. His wife was watching "her shows" on TV. After his umpteenth trip by her carrying guns to the basement she screamed "How many ________ guns do you have ?!?!?!?
The correct answer is, “One less than I need.” :)
