Very nice job! That's pretty much the way I would do another one myself.....already got one in .54.I finished this Kibler Colonial rifle today. It is .54 caliber with a rich Cherry stock. I inlet a tow plate, hunter's star and a brass patch box similar to several pre-Rev styles in Track of the Wolf. I aged the barrel and darkened parts of the stock to give it an aged look.
This gun balances so well and will be a fun one to shoot. I hope to sight this in soon and bring it on a hunt in October!

Thank you jimsirwin!Thassa mighty nice rifle gun there Pathfinder! The lines, finish, carving are simple AND elegant. Outstanding!
Glad you like it Mike. The barrel is heavily rust- browned and then I used a rust remover, which left the nice pitting, the lock was buffed and then lightly cold browned. The barrel was a lot of work and I am looking for other methods to use to get a grey color with a nice age look.Outstanding! What did you use to age the barrel and lock? I really like the finish. I'm working on a full stock Hawken in .62 cal with L&R Hawken lock and would like the finish to be like that.
Great finish on the stock also. Back in the 80's I saw a few Cherry Stocks on long rifles that came out of Missouri. The same guy had some very nice fish scale curly Ash and I got a good stock blank from him.
Ethan. are you kin to the Yazel's that built muzzleloading pistols? I had Harold Yazel build a set of .45 Cal Target pistols, Perc & Flint from a Bill Large XXX barrel I had laying around. They are still shooters and that was in the 80's.
Mike
Thanks!Beautiful!!!
Thank youWell done!!
I'll second that. It seems to me that cherry is gaining in popularity over the past few years.I love a good cherry stock. Nice choice and great execution.
