This fowler is a unique and documented example of an Early (pre committee of safety) musket as might have been made in a field expediant style.
The Gun , is copied from pictures of the original and is accurate to the prominant features of the shape of the forarm, the schnabel forend and the "folksy" engraving as found on the original. Intended for turkey and shooting stout loads , the barrel starts at the breech about 1 1/4" and tapers to about 5/8. I have comfortably shot a square load with a 100gr charge and #5 shot, I ahve also done 110gr with a prb and all or more than manageable.
the rifle sights are traditional low profile and offer a wonderful sight picture. The bore of this musket is excellent ( I ahve no bore atm and cannot offer a pic) with no rough spots or issues. The stock is what the builder called "rock Maple". Its the plainest wood ive ever seen, but you could drive nails with it. It is beyong hard...its granite! Overall t he gun is is excellent shape. the only flaw, is on t he frizzen. when making the lock at the factory there was a small gap between the frizzen and the pan. this does allow fine powder(4f) to trickle out. I decided to forgo sending it back as it had already been aged to match t he gun. I found that sealing the gap with a piece cotton drill and a bit of super glue works amazing.ypu just wipe some mink oil on the outside edge. I have never had a problem with it. and it seals very well from rain. When I called Larry about the issue he said he would replace the lock so there is that option as well. Asking $1,800 shipped to your door.
