I need to order a Pistol Loader ( basically a 10" ball starter) for my .50 cal Pistol. Track has them in 3/8" and 7/16. I have the 7/16" with .50 cal jag in my cart but figured I would ask here first before ordering. Is there any issue with using that large of a ram rod in a .50? Thanks in advance.

Not a problem. In fact it is a boon because you can use the short start and then ram the ball home. You might invest in a muzzle protector for a 7/16 rod just to ensure you don't erode the muzzle over time.

I don't know the actual diamater but the long pistol starter that track sells for .50 cal works great. it becomes the ramrod. Is there an issue with damageing the barrel with a wooden ramrod??? I get that the steel range rods need a muzzel protector but not feeling it for wooden rods?
