The man obviously does great work but the asymmetry of the patch box would drive me crazy. Also I would say it’s almost sighted in, could move that group a little to the left.

No problem for me on the patch box. I was talking to him today and he mentioned that he was not done with the sighting. He is also building a powder box to go with it. Plans are to go get it at the end of June and on the way back, with rifle in hand, go see friends in Ft Wayne and Omaha, who will find us a range. A bunch of friends are wating for it too.

If I ever get there! My body started to fall apart on a regular basis in 2015 , production has been way down since then. Only built 3 in 2017. Haven't made one in a year now. Hopefully I'll get back at it this summer. Depends how the fish are biting.

I have two of them and I’d love to have three. If a come across a .54 there would be a good chance I’d break out the checkbook! Maybe even a .50

I have been know to be impulsive.

@Thingamajiggy, When he asked what I wanted, I asked for a functional flintlock rifle that I could go target shooting with. He took me shooting the summer of '19 when I was visiting family and that was all it took for me to want one. Anticipation is high for sure. I had a build space but had to relinquish it, lost a year. He is building it how he wants to build it and I have no say, which is perfectly fine by me. I do not know where he gets his inspiration, he's an artist. I think he is building a museum quality authentic long rifle that will surely last several generations of my family. It's amazing how this rifle started as the trunk of a curly maple tree. BTW, I'm on a five year wait list for a pistol.

In five years it would go to my great grandson; I will likely have gone home. [edit] BTW: Looking good!

He's building a powder box out of black walnut

Burley maple Rifle is finished, black walnut powder box is finished; now all I have to do is figure out when to go get them.

Got my hands on it. First shoot came out better than anticipated. It's a straight shooter and very fun to go through the motions of shooting. I'm on the search for public ranges in Fort Wayne, IN and Omaha, NE for starters, stop overs on the way back to Denver.

I had some fun outfitting my powder box at Fort Chambers Back Powder Gun Shop in Chambersburg, PA. Got all supplies for shooting and all the tools for dissamblng the firing mechanism for cleaning, got a tutorial of when and how to clean everything. I am loaded for bear now, fellas.

The cardboard case is temporary, was not easy finding a 55 inch case.

It's not just a rifle. Amassing the tools is the other half of fun. **** made a special tool for the CO2 blow-out kit, a basketball air needle cut down to fit tighter against the touch hole.
