Just some of my observations having used the three primary carriers:

UPS and Fed-Ex own their own OTR trucks. USPS does not. They use contract drivers.
NONE of the carriers like LONG boxes or tubes.
UPS's entire system is geared to business to business. So they don't like pick-ups or deliveries to residences in general.
FED-EX's regular ground shipping is often a day longer than UPS.

Wrong UPS and FEDEX do not use contract drivers in company owned trucks they do use contractors but they [ the contractor ]own the truck .If UPS stopped residential delivery they would loose a big part of their business. I worked in the industry for 46 years so I know a little about the freight industry. I worked with all three companies.

Someone at UPS is REALLY going through packages they feel are 'Suspicious'!

All our packages her in Nevada come and go through California.

I just ordered a 5lbs bag of 'Memory Foam Stuffing' from Home Depot, the stuff for making pillows.

First I get an e-mail that delivery is "delayed" with a new date.
Then I get another e-mail, delayed another day.

When the package finally arrived, one end of the out plastic wrapping had a fist sized hole torn in it, inside this that end of the box had beeb Completely Torn open! Inside the box you can see how someone had poked Way Down into the inner package apparently trying to see what is inside all the memory foam bits.
The foam comes in a tight wrapped vacuum sealed roll.

Or maybe I am just on a 'watch list'...?

🤨...why are you all backing away from me??

I have informed delivery for USPS. Seen that my barrel was being delivered last Thursday and noted I want it delivered on the porch. She stuffed it in the mailbox, hanging halfway out, and rubber banded the door to the flag. She has refused to drive 3/4 mile down our gravel private drive because it's not a county road. They are only obligated to go off the main road 1/2 there and back to make a delivery. We have 20mph signs and she flies throwing gravel everywhere. Sonits not like it takes her much time to get to my house.

I have a 1/2-mile private gravel driveway off a remote gravel road. The Post Office drivers come up to our house 3 to 5 days a week.

As I said, it's not about the company, it's all about the local people with that company.

Must be nice! They gave me a load of crap stating "policies".

For years, our carrier was great. Packages to the porch. Treats for the dogs. Signed for and hand delivered when appropriate.
Then my 92 year old father in law died.
ANY and EVERY package over 2# must be picked up at the post office. Our driveway is “dangerous” to back out of (we have a circular driveway). Our elderly retired K9 GSD is “too dangerous”.
Funny, any of the subs bring stuff up the driveway, love on “Officer Bear” and have no problem turning around in the yard. 1840s house, big front yard.
The folks at the P.O. don’t even ask when I come in. They go hunt down my packages. Even the meaner than a rattler DEI hire lady.
Oh, DEI means Divide, Exclude, Intimidate where I work. I’m the token disabled veteran white guy over 50.

Mailed to me on a Thursday; clerk said: "Monday delivery,: Nope nor the next Monday, Wife saw it sitting on porch chair Wednesday. 400 miles, adjoining states two weeks precisely. Sounds like Gummit work to me, also.. ;) 🦨:horseback::rolleyes:
P.S. empty gun box within a box ... must have weighed a pound :)
I mailed it to Dale. Drove 20 miles into Hannibal to the US post office because our small town post office is only open 3 hours a day, "postmaster" might be the right one or not, etc. Clerk at the "big post office" filled out and attached all labels b/c my hand tremor writing style is illegible. After paying over $20 to mail an empty factory box within a box, I was assured it would show up at Dale's house on time. Nice lady. So much for trying to push the package by eliminating the rural first step. Glad I didn't send live chicks. Take care, Dale.

Hi Sheriff. Thank you for all that effort. I wanted my friend to have an original box for the gun I gave him. He has it and all is well. Dale P.S. not sure all is well with our postal system

I had a situation like this, with UPS (We have UPS here). UPS claimed it was delivered as there was a signature on the receipt slip. A fake scribble, obviously. After a month with no package, the original vendor sent me a replacement item at no extra cost. Eventually, three months later, the original package turned up - shoved under the porch of a neighbour's house! Which I photographed before removing. The neighbours have the house as a holiday home and are only there occasionally. Whilst it was nice to have eventually gotten a free item, it doesn't compensate for the missing days waiting for the delivery. My house is a stand alone detached building, right in the middle of a square, with its number clearly visible. I contacted the original vendors, who said they weren't bothered about me sending the replacement back, but would certainly be contacting UPS with dates and times of the alleged delivery...

I want to begin this by stating that the seller is in no way responsible for this conundrum. He has been excellent to deal with. He did his part. I’m not going to release his name at this time. However, rest assured that he is not responsible for this situation.

Secondly, at this point I’m not interested in stating what this pertains to. Let’s just say it is something we all have in common and for me, it is a lot of money. Perhaps not for some folks, but for me it is.

This package was shipped USPS, insured and boxed properly, according to the seller. Expected delivery date was last Friday. No package. Tracking indicated it was still in transit. Saturday came and no package and no update on tracking status.

Last night tracking indicated package was on my side of the world and was in transit to the nearest town. Cool. Checked early this morning and tracking stated package had made it to near by town and was scheduled to be delivered this morning. Checked one more time, out for delivery.

Waited all morning and no package. Mail box is on another road and is not visible from my house. Finally got on my ATV and rode down to mail box just to see if the mail had ran. Sure enough, it did and there was a notice in there stating “Sorry we missed you while you were out”. I never left the property and my two large outside dogs turns inside out when anyone comes up my driveway. I was so concerned about getting this package and perhaps missing the driver that I wouldn’t even take a shower today. In short, the driver lied. He never came up this driveway. Also, that notice has a sticky back meant to be stuck on a door but it was in my mailbox instead.

Okay, time to make a call. Postal dude understood and told me that I might be able to find him on some other nearby roads. Drove around for quite a ways to no avail. Saw the mail truck pass by me on a narrow curvy road going Mach 2. Turned around and drove like a mad man trying to catch up to him. He vanished.

Call back to post office and explainind this again. I informed him that tracking showed package was scheduled to be delivered last Friday. Also, I cannot waste anymore time waiting for this spendy package. I’ve put off several important things scheduled with other people and I can’t miss another day.

There is more but to shorten this up, the delivery driver is/was supposed to have turned around, came back and deliver my package. That was several hours ago. Now the day is shot. I have not made my first appointment today. I had 4 locations to be at today. It’s too late now. One place I needed to go has something I need to pick up to use at daylight tomorrow morning when help is supposed to be there.

So, last time I spoke to post office dude I asked him what time this evening I could drive up to the post office and pick up my package. He never would give me a time. He said the driver would show up or that he would call me.

This is insane and is my number one reason I do not like to purchase high dollar items if it has to be shipped.

I’m not angry and I’m not going to make a scene about this. I will maintain my integrity regardless. However, I am saddened by the apathy in the shipping world.
You`r not angry ?

Welp, after a little while longer and before the PO closed, no truck and no phone call. So, I made another call to check up on this situation. A very pleasant lady at one post office gave me the number for another PO. She gave me two names. She also told me to tell them they have 30 minutes to find my package. If they did not reply I was instructed to call her back. Wouldn’t you know it, after hearing my story, the man asked me to hold on for a couple of minutes. He came back and said “oh, we have it”. I told him to hold on and I’ll be up there in about 30 minutes.

I finally have my package home. What a goat rope!

That is why economists say govt. work is non productive.
no real benefit to the economy or thier employers.

I've seen on the news several instances where a guy comes just after the delivery of I-Phones, and takes them off the doorstep. Obviously someone in the shipping chain is leaking information to "pickers" as to when & where a delivery is going. Not saying this is in your instance, but there's a lot of people working in the "supply chain" that you wouldn't trust your security to.

A lot of that kind of activity seems to occur in areas where coincidentally, truck drivers are warned to avoid the truck stops.
