It has been pointed out to me that I haven't been around here for a while so I thought I would show you some of my most recent creations for you opinions, critique, and or general knocking around.
The first is a flat horn that was flattened around the curve. it is about 10 3/4 inches long and about 1 inch thick. the brass drawer pulls for the hanger were also made by me and the horn has a little dutch style engraving and is polychromed.

This next one is a Queen Ann style flask about 6 3/4 inches tall. Yes, those are threads at the top and the cap is also threaded

This next one was inspired by a spiraled horn in Madison Grants book

Those are beautiful!   I gotta ask, what kind of paint do you use for the coloring of your designs?

DD, I use Higgins India Ink. You can get it at any hobby store in just about any color. After it is applied I use a walnut stain and sealer over the whole horn which gives the horn a very light aging and seals the ink making it pretty much permanent. You can also use a wax to do the same thing.

Richard, I started about 4 years ago and found the Horners Bench. Along with Horner75's (Rick) help, and a bunch of other like minded people who have become addicted to horn dust, I have been able to come up with something worth keeping every once in a while.

Well, if I could make things that looked that nice, you'd never hear from me again it'd take so long!
:hatsoff:

Those are all absolutely gorgeous creations Hawkthrower but the flat horn is just stunning .. :hatsoff:

Those are great looking creations. Great doesn't seem like it is a good enough word to describe that flat horn. Amazing talent.

Thanks Hawk,

I'll have to look at my local Michael's Craft store for that ink.

Again, beautiful work.

Gus, the hex symbols were all modeled, not copied , from good luck and long life symbols so if I inadvertently called down something bad please don't tell me.
Bucksco, yes I make all the hardware I use.
Thanks all for your kind comments. Gotta go to work now.

I have one of Ricks' flat horns and one of William Smith's. Flat horns are my favorite style. Showed the other half the pictures of your work and her response was nice work. She asks periodically if Rick has posted anything new lately.

There are certain things I find that I really like, your work, Rick's work, cutfingers work which I have several ball bags from and there was a fellow on another site named Wally who made some of the finest vent picks I have seen. Wally has passed on, wish I had more of his work.

Found a fellow on another site who was making "banjo" shaped horns, nice work and a fair price.

Wish I had you folks talent, it is great to see true quality workmanship.

You ever go to a cemetery and see a tombstone with: "Wish I had spent more time at work"?

Will not be on mine.

Spent a lot of time fishing with my father. We were in South America fishing and as he opened a beer he said, I sure pity the people who have to go to work.

Yep.
