A nice old school rifle came yesterday.

There was no year on the rifle, but the work says it is an early build. 7/8" straight .50cal. with a Deluxe Siler lock. Minimal wear on the rifle. The bore is clean. The barrel has cut rifling so it isn't a Douglas. Built by George Kieffer.

George Kieffer and his brother were contemporary Pa builders mostly used green mtn barrels Greg Dixon can tell you more about the builders they came from his

area

He gets a few Kieffer rifles in now and then for sale all well made almost all with green mtn barrels

I don't know. To me some of the work just says it is an earlier rifle. Someone familiar with Mr. Kieffer's work can correct me if I am wrong.

Mr. Kiefer did some work on a pistol barrel for me about 10 years ago.
