My WoodsRunner mystery metal

I just recently (like three days ago) bought a Kibler WoodsRunner at an estate sale. For those of you that have built "assembled" one of Jims fantastic kits you know what I mean. Took about 6 hours to get to this point.

This is not my first rodeo as I have previously built one of his Colonials that I bought 6 years ago.

The interesting thing is that I always run a greased patch down the barrel to ensure that it does not rust. I do this in the event I get sidetracked and do not finish the build in a timely manner. However, when I ran the patch down this GM .54 barrel I was rewarded? with a small pile of metal shaving. I pulled out my borescope and found this at the bottom of the barrel.

I used my tow worm and managed to remove all of the shavings, although clearing the vent hole was a little challenging.

I was just wondering where these shaving came from?

likely drilling and tapping the touch hole. update... nope to large missed it the first time.

Leftovers from manufacturing, mine had some shavings too, no biggy, clean right up

I found these in mine, surprised yes but they cleaned out OK.

Mine had this too. That’s why you run a patch on a new gun, right?

Found the same in my woodsrunner a couple years ago. As a courtesy I let Kibler know.
No big deal, but surprising as Phil said. Rifle shoots great.

I blasted air through my liner hole and got about the same as Mr coffins did. Part of the metal forming game.

I was just wondering where these shaving came from?

Mine had this too. It from tapping the hole for the white lightning liner and or breech plug. No worry.

All three of mine had those shavings, looks like from the rifling process to me except one of mine is a smoothbore. Not all from the same maker either. Know I've got one each Douglas and Green Mountain and for some reason I think one of them is different yet.
