What a beautiful piece of work! When the video first opened up and showed the profile of the rifle the first thing I thought of was a CVA Mt. Rifle. Sure did give me some ideas!

Nice gun, and great inletting work. But, it seems hard to KILL OLD WIVES TALES, now, doesn't it? That nonsense about soaking the hickory Ramrod in Coal oil for a couple of weeks. Considering when the gun was made, that was about the time my gun Club members totally debunked the idea that soaking a ramrod in coal oil make it stronger, or more limber at all! :shocked2: :blah: :rotf: :hmm:

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. Now if mine was only a bigger bore...

I came back to gaze once again at this rifle, Would the triggerguard and buttplate be german silver or brass ? I have one almost as old and would perhaps like to add a silver triggerguard such as this. Thanks for posting.

"All handmade lock and triggers".....looks like a siler to me with old set triggers from Spain.
The insured value of this rifle is $18,000.00 At auction it would likely bring between $12,000.00 to $15,000.00
Got his decimal point off a little.

Obviously the work of a skilled craftsman but $18K? I would venture the production costs of the video was greater than the true value of this rifle. That said, I wouldn't be ashamed to carry this rifle in the Rockies with elk as my objective.

The video could have been edited down to about a minute. Painfully slow zooming, on the same spot, a half dozen times is ridiculous. It looked like the cameraman just got a new zoom lens and couldn't stop using it.

Nice rifle.

I tried to make a post on this subject twice and could not get it worded nicely so I decided to just agree with you.

Thanks Grizz that was really enjoyable it is a nice looking rifle, I am partial to silver trim and that is an exceptional example.
