I have a Pedersoli indian trade musket that i would like to add some kind of rear sight to. Can any body give me some suggestions as to where to start.

Does that gun have a full round barrel? If so, you may have to find or modify a sight to solder on. If it is OTR you can carefully file a dovetail for the sight to slide into. That's what I did on my gun. TOTW sells a tool that lifts up a little metal on the barrel to slide the sight under. That may be the way that most sights were added back in the day. I don't know how safe that would be on a round barrel though. TOTW does have a lot of sights to choose from. Good luck and have fun!

any fixed 3/8 inch dove tail sight ceria the 17oos would work. don't use 1800s rifle sights. check track of wolf. have the top flat dovetailed and first set site on the flat with double sided tape to get best location

The barrel is octagon to round..I ordered a jaeger style rear sight from TOTW. thanks for the suggestions folks

Wonder what happened to the backordered flip sight I ordered for my smoothrifle?

Clay Smith has a Type G tradegun sight on his web site, but they are listed as temporarily out of stock.
