I've been looking at C&B revolvers with the thought of getting an 1858. I see that some have adjustable sights and others don't. Are the adjustable sight models a correct representation for a particular time period, or are the fixed sight models the only true replicas? What year would the adjustable sights have been available if they aren't a modern addition?

I could be wrong, but to my knowledge the only period correct C&B revolvers are those with groves (1858 New Model Army by Remington). None of my Uberti Colts come with an option, just the notch in the hammer!

I've never seen anything about any original Remingtons having adjustable sights. I can't think of any pistol with adjustable sights prior to Colt's Flat Top Target (made in the late 1880s, early 1890s).

what few adjustable sight '58's that were made had only a drift-adjustable blade rear, not the modern type screw elevation and windage.
