I once, about a yeaar ago, order a bit of pure lead, and some alloys, and it was shipped in a USPS flat rate box, which it filled nicely. When it arrived the postal people weighed it and it came in at 68 pounds. Flat rate shipping is the way to go with lead and roundballs. It will save you a bundle.

yep! flat rate ! got 20 bxes of 490's.. shipped @ $8.95,,(postman loves me...hee hee hee!) that rrarms wants $26. shipping fer 20 bxs. track and dixie same way... :shake: box before had balls, lead, and melter..53 lbs.. heee hee!

I just picked up today Speer & Hornady 83 box's of RB from .310 to 570.

Some Hornady's in .433 and a few other off standard sizes.
I figure to sell half and leave enough for me to shoot.
Alos picked up a bunch of odds and ends I'll list on the trade forum here.

:hmm: halftail sayed "" Must have somewhere around 500lbs of good clean lead out in the Shed.

The local Gander Mountain carries a brand called Bullet Weights( I think) They are swaged. In January I bought a heap of them in .50 and .54, and they were $4.99 per 100. And to the right of them on the same self were T/C swaged round balls for 13.99 per 100. No contest there!

200 odd keys don't sound near as heavy, and we're talkin' about lead. :shake:

hey r,o,b,

a lifetime supply of lead for us old goats could be 5#.. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

..ttfn..grampa..

Roy, I just called Eddie to confirm that he was still in the business (he was) and he confirmed the prices with me. BTW 1000 0.490's weighs 26 pounds (including packaging) on my bathroom scales.

Metal prices have been going through the roof because our Chinese trade partners have been buying to supply their needs (like gasoline). Some metals (I use platinum group metals at work, Ruthenium mainly) have gone up 40-50% this year alone. Lead isn't the only one.

RC,
I talked to a couple of "young fellas" from NY last night. They were passing through on THEM FANCY "Crotch Rockets".I asked them if they knew you but they said no....well...one of them thought they mighta knew a guy like you....once......I gave them some lead and told them if they bumped into you to give it to ya...

DGW's price you quoted is out of line. Our local Sportsman's Warehouse has .440 - .495's, Horandy 100 ct. round balls for $9.99. That is up a touch from a couple of years ago but, nothing extreme. Now if I can just convince the Warehouse to carry Goex :hmm:
