The annual Memorial day rondy will be held at Fort Wick in Talkeetna Alaska over memorial day weekend. There will be lots of shooting events and a pot luck on Saturday. All are welcome to attend. The alaska members of the forum should come on out and meet other muzzleloader shooters from around the state.
I hope to see you all there.

Travelling all next week but plan to be back in time to set up on Friday. I'll have some kids events planned so all should bring the family.

Saw the Man vs. Food show that was in Talkeetna a few days ago. Really neat town. Looked like REALLY good food too.
Have a blast!! :hatsoff:

Cheers, DonK

That would be almost a 700 mile ferry/drive and it is our anniversary....

Now if you were holding it at the reconstructed gold rush town (from the old White Fang series) at the Haines State Fairgrounds I could have made it.

The only problem with the fairgrounds, which have brand new showers, lots of large open buildings, covered stage, ax throwing range, and stables, is that half of those old style buildings are already taken up by an award winning micro-brewery. What a terrible problem.

Seriously though, the fair would probably love to have another LH camp at the end of July. http://seakfair.org/

Karl,

I wish we had enough shooters statewide to make it worth our while to hold some events down in SE. 'Course the travel distances would still be a problem...not to mention that most of us would melt in all the rain down your way....

Don't think that the lack of period correctness of the micro-brewery would be much of a problem.

Russ - at one point I found 4 other displaced reenactors here but now I think that I can find just one other flintlock shooter. There are signs and rumors that folks have tried to get early Russian-American LH off the ground for decades but there have never been quite enough people. I have been slowly gathering up R-A gear just in case.

Mike,
Not a requirement for new folks, just encouraged.
Wear what you have just bring your gun and shooting supplies, there is a place for modern camps as well as period camp. Come on out it will be fun, the booshway has lots of shoots planned.

Sadly I will be working all of Memorial Day Weekend.

Sounds like a lot of fun though. Wish I were able to make it. Will have to try for another event in the future.
