Anyone catch last evenings first episode of 'America- The Story of Us' on the History Channel?
Well, it was loaded with video and audio flubs - like, the Lexington militia sergeant training his farmer/militiamen with verbal encouragements of 'lookin good' and the view of a militia man on Lexington Green firing a musket or fowler that had no frizzen on the lock!!! Had to rewind the view to verify that one. Certainly not what you'd expect from the History Channel, in my opinion. have to see what future episodes bring____!

Very politically correct I thought. Too much dwelling on things that had little to do with the history of America.

-----turned it on and the first thing I saw was omamma--hit the channel change button rite quick-----

I haven't seen any of it, and I'm not going to, because that sort of thing (and much worse) is EXACTLY what I expect from the History Channel now.

Glad you posted this...I saw that too and then it was gone...just assumed my eyes had decieved me...absolutely had no frizzen on the lock !!

Yes, it was disappointing in other ways which we should not go into here, so I won't...we finally changed channels after about 45 minutes and won't be bothering with it again

Well,it's about time we had a politicly correct history of America! All that stuff about freedom and rights the "old" history even said George Washington and Thomas Jefferson owned slaves! hat the 2nd amendment gave the right of citizens to keep guns!-Oh my!

M. J.,

Did it look to you as if 'Dan'l Morgans', Va. style rifle, I'm guessing, had a lock from the late 1600s?

Yep, doglock. Not exactly what I would expect to see on a Virginia rifleman's rifle.

Neat graphics, but terribly politically correct.

I gave up on the History channel a long time ago, shortly after it became obvious that they were going to broadcast "UFO's are Real and You're Stupid if You Don't Beleive in Them" shows at least five times a week.

I try to keep an open mind, but please, this kind of drivel does NOT belong in the same category as History. :bull:

Well, I saw enough to see that I knew more about American History than the guys that produced the show so I went to bed...

But, we must remember, we know more about history than 90% of the folks that watch TV...How many of us grew our love of history from watching Fess Parker???

I'm just hoping maybe they lit a spark inside some to study our history further...

boy was it really glossed over. and what was bloomberg doing on there anyway? or guilliani for that matter? where all the real history professors on vacation? aside from the doglock on daniel morgans rifle??? did anyone else notice they presented the vote for independence as simple as if it was common knowledge to the continental congress "independence, of course we all are going to vote for independence." except for dickinson who was a wuss. entertaining and really, really glossed over. can't wait for the south's posistion on states rights next weekend.

Miniball is correct. When Obama did the intro and or left wing General Colin Powell showed up with a bunch of leftys it was over. They were talking about the rifle in warefare but showed mostly smooth bore prop guns. :cursing: Just think they are going to give every school child a copy of this manure. :(

There was an obvious left wing slant. Ive been trained to recognize propaganda no matter how well hidden. They did not even make an effort to hide it. Revisionist history at its worst. Morgans "rifle" was a cookson fowler one of those made india guns. I have never heard that Von Stueben was gay before. This was manure took it off my dvr. The only person that impressed me was the Crusty career Marine I actually belive he would have gone back and fought if he could.

Don't forget that great historian Michael Douglas' appearance. IMHO the only thing he did correct was marry Catherine Zeta-Jones

Well,
after reading all the responses (and believe me, I put a lot of store in what folks say in here), I guess I will not have to give up watching Desperate Housewives :rotf: .
:v
