Finished this Cherry SMR in .45 cal today. Nothing notable about it except it has my homemade, taller rear sight installed. This rifle will eventually go to my 2nd grandson, but I’ll enjoy using it until he gets older. Now both grandsons will have .45 SMRs.

5 years and 1 year. They’re the youngest after a string of 4 granddaughters with the oldest 12. So I’ll have plenty of time to dial it in and enjoy it.

Thank you. I spent a fair amount of time working up the stain/alcohol ratio to get what you see. It was Laurel Mountain Cherry stain and denatured alcohol.

Really nice looking TDM. I've always been partial to maple and walnut, but your work really makes me think cherry is an acceptable gun stock wood. Two thumbs up to ya.
