I stopped in my local shop yesterday to pick up a few tins of caps, and after getting home, I realized I had purchased CCI #11 Magnum caps instead of the CCI #11's I have been using. Is there any concern in using these in my New Englander?

I know this is probably a silly question, but I don't want to harm the gun if they are not made for sidelocks. Thanks in advance.

The only difference I see in caps is in how they fit the nipple on some of my guns. As far as lighting the powder, I can't tell any difference. The "Magnum" caps supposedly have a hotter or more powerful flame so theoretically offer more "reliable" ignition, but my MLs don't seem to act any differently.

You can tell the difference when popping a cap on an empty barrel. The magnums are recommended for use with the BP substitutes, especially in the patent type breeches.
