I have a new Uberti 1851 and I didn't notice the problem when I opened the box. I field stripped it and when reassemblying found that the slot in the base pin does not line up with the slots in the barrel. This makes the wedge go at an angle before it clears the right side of the barrel and so it won't quite come through to flush. It seems a little file work will solve the problem, but should I taper the wedge or enlarge the slot in the base pin? I don't want to increase the barrel/cylinder gap.
Thanks,
Charliek

If under warranty call the retailer for advice on problem.
I had one similar to yours with that problem. Went ahead and shot it and the base pin moved out on me. The barrel gap opened up and then had to send it back under warranty.
If you keep it, then work on wedge since it is the cheapest replacement. Always adapt the parts to fit the gun. Parts are always different, so down the road a replacement can be made again if needed. IMHO Good luck.
