I'm a BIG fan of the .45 and I've used it up to 75 yards on deer. I'd think it would do well at 100. Unless you will be doing a fair amount of deer hunting, I'd stick with .40. If you plan to take it out after deer every fall, you "might" consider the .45 which is a better deer caliber. My .40 Lancaster has a 38" swamped barrel and is perfectly balanced and not the least bit heavy. My Lancaster 36" straight barrel .45 is even lighter and also not muzzle heavy. Just tell [strike]Matt[/strike] Toni at TVM what you want and you'll get it.
