Never had much luck posting pics. But if someone wants to take a gander, they can e-mail me. It is Ray's work, but you did the finishing touches.

jimmy,
Copy them to photo bucket, then use the icons on the top of this page.

Tried it. Made a mess of it. But I had some help and you can see the pics now. Une carabine, wait till you see the Lancaster and the Killdeer rifle oldarmy will be making for me. You might wanna start saving your pennies!

Glad to see you found a good gun from one of the members, it will likely be a shooter from the reputation of the maker, welcome to the world of striking iron with rocks and enjoy the journey, the rewards will be soon in comming.

I GUESS YOU NEVER HEARD OF LUCK!
Oh yeah i've heard of it, i just don't put much stock in it. Like what "The Parson" said, prayer will trump luck everytime. With me getting my "Dream Long Rifle" in the way i did, tells me, luck had nothing to do with it. :hatsoff: I mean look at it:

1.I wanted a "Custom" Long Rifle.
2.I wanted it to be a .50 cal
3.I wanted it to be a FlintLock.
4.I had only hoped for brass furniture.
5.I had only dreamed it would have brass Inlays.
6.I had hoped for all the best parts, curley maple stock, siler lock, swamped colerain barrel, etc.
7.Finally, i really wanted it before Nov. 1st.

I got this entire "Dream List" filled in just 2 or 3 days after learning about this site & becoming a member. :applause:

Now!!! combine all that together and how in the world can you call that luck. :hmm: Oh and not to mention this wonderful site, with so many knowledgable people on here. The limits on learning about every aspect of muzzleloading traditions are boundless.

Would love to see them. What the heck, my mouth hasn't stopped watering & drooling for a week now, whats a few more days going to matter. Unless you can die of dehydration :shocked2: from drooling over "Custom Rifles" :rotf: Oh and by the way, the count down is on. My new baby should be arriving home, safe and sound tomorrow or tuesday. WoooooHoooo!!! :hatsoff:

Well fella's i don't mean to beat a dead horse, but she's home. This rifle is far and above anything i ever expected. Pictures just don't do her justice. Thank you again "oldarmy" you are definately a true artist. :hatsoff: I'll see if i can figure out to post some pictures of her on here, for those that may not have seen "oldarmy's" work yet. Can you post pictures per thread or is there a particular forum for pictures only???

There are no firm rules about posting pictures but generally speaking yes, you can post a picture or two in a regular post.
Adding a picture or two to this post would be fine.

If you have a number of pictures to post and those pictures are the main subject of the post then the Photo Forum area would be a better place for them. :)

I've seen a couple photos of that particular rifle, but I wouldnt mind seeing a few more. Show us your new pride and joy! :applause:

Thank you Jimmy, i've been trying for the past 2-1/2 hours to get everything figured out and doing the photobucket thing, but i think i got it. So here's the pictures of my new baby. Sorry for the quality, the batteries were going low and the lighting was bad. I'll soon have some with her outside where she belongs. Thank you again "oldarmy" for the creation of this masterpiece. If ole Davy Crockett would've had this rifle, he may have survived the Alamo & chased ole Santa Anna back to Mexico. :hatsoff:

Where did you put them?

I am glad she has a new home.
It's a plain, simple working man's rifle.
Hope she serves you well.
I enjoyed building and owning her.
Take her out to the woods where she belongs.

I put it in the "photos" section Mike.
Thats a pretty sweet rifle you got there une carabine. Not bad for a "first custom rifle" eh? I know you'll be admiring that rifle for a long time.
I like Lancasters myself and Mike's making me a Lancaster almost like that too. It's got a 44" swamped Colerain barrel, fancy maple, brass furniture and lock and barrel "armoury bright" and red/brown stain.I know he'll be posting photos when he's done. He does excellent work. :hatsoff:

Just looking at those pics of that rifle again U.C. In that light, I have to say the stripes are a LOT more visible. Awesome looking wood. Thats a pretty sweet rifle. You fired her yet?

Hey buddy. This was my first flinter purchased 6 years ago to get into reenacting.... http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?products_id=11606

It came in a pre-assembled kit form, completely outleted with the stock in white (could still see the chizzle marks on it) and the barrel unblued... a little skill and tools required (screwdrivers, sandpaper etc... nothing much).
With the help of Laurel Mnt. products (stain, metal blue and perma-lynn stock sealer) I soon had a really nice, reliable rifle.

It doesn't have much furniture (buttplate, toe-kick and nose cap) and I stained it cherry (named her "Red Molly" after my granny!) I have used it for not only reenacting but trekking and hunting as well (brought down a nice turkey at 100 yards last year). The frizzen and lock have been fantastic... Just keep a good flint in it (English grays are my faves!!) Just my 2 cents worth.... but if you're eyeing a kit, you could do a lot worse than a Pedersoli!!

Good luck and happy shooting!!

Heck no, we've had rain the last 2 days & i was too busy the day i recieved it. So far all i've got to do is look at it. :) Not that thats a bad thing, mind you. It'll more than likely be this weekend before i get to heat her up. I'am acutally going to give up a day of bow hunting to go shoot this rifle. :shocked2: Can you believe that. See the thing i haven't told ya'll about me, is that i'am an ASA 3-D Competetion Archery shooter. I guess if you look at the other side of the coin, i probally know as much or more about Archery, as you guy's know about Muzzleloading. So i'am stepping out of a world i know front to back & side to side, for a world i really know very little about. So once i start shooting this rifle, you'll probally be seeing a lot of posts, with lots & lots of questions. :hatsoff: BTW i've got friends that i had mentioned to, that i was getting this primitive custom made long rifle and their responses were, :snore: of a very uninterested manner, saying things like, "i'am just not into that or thats not my thing :yakyak: . So when the rifle arrived and i showed her to them, they had a slight change of attitude then. Commenting on how sharp the rifle looked and could they shoot her when i take her out. Of course i asked them had they lost their minds or something :youcrazy:. Won't "NOBODY" and i mean "NOBODY" ever shoot this rifle again, :nono: but me.

And Jimmy, she is a super sweet looking rifle. I just won't be able to get a decent picture till i get her out into the sunlight & in the woods, where she belongs. Maybe this weekend.

Where's the pictures of the rifle you said "oldarmy" was making for you, i haven't seen them yet. At least i think it was you that told me that, i'll have to go back and check.

Dang Ranger, that it is a sharp looking rifle. I was just about to land on one just like that, until i was fortunate enough to find "oldarmy" & he had exactly what i was looking for (and more) So i bought his custom rifle, and was dang near in tears when it arrived. I mean for the rifle it is, its simply extrodinary to me. I mean i've seen those rifle's with the wire inlay's and the custom engravings on both wood and metal, that were just mind boggling beautiful, :shocked2: costing 8 to 10 thousand dollars or more. So for what i got and the price i got it, i couldn't be happier.

Their was one guy, when i first came on this site, that told me some horror stories about the pedersoli rifles and such, i think you can find them on page 1 of this thread. He didn't have much good to say about them, but most of the others on here said they were great rifles, along with the great plains rifle's by Lyman. Had i not found my custom, i would have went with the pedersoli myself. :hatsoff:

Good luck to you also,

Danny
