Anyone hunt MD and WV any good public lands to hunt on ? Looking for idea's never hunted either state I live in southcentral PA not looking to steel anyone's honey hole !

I hunt in WV. A friend of mine and I are talking about going down to Cranberry Glades this muzzy season. It's supposed to be an awesome place. Figured I'd set up a base camp and hunt 3 or 4 days.

There used to be a fairly large tract of public hunting land very near where I'm located, but it was sold off to a private enterprise that will probably "sell shares" to hunt there now. More and more of this kind of thing is happening...

LHunter,
I grew up in and still hunt the eastern panhandle of WV. Until several years ago Westvaco had huge tracts of land there, but they sold off much of it, and the developers got their hooks on it and have sold off much of the land. We see this kind of thing every year across the country. That was some very good hunting. STill, there are numerous tracts of state-owned land open to hunting around the state. Check with WV DNR. They will be happy to provide you with all sorts of info on public hunting areas.
Good luck. Sam

LHunter , Maryland has many good public hunting areas . To find them go to www.dnr.state.md.us . I recomend you to check out Green Ridge State Forest in Allegany county . It's a big place , so I would suggest you get a map of the place at the vistors center , you will find it quite helpful. They also have detailed topo maps for sale there . Except for modern firearms deer season (too many nimrods and yahoos running around with loaded guns) it's a great place to hunt .

Thanks for the replys guys I'll try to check some of this out maybe for next year
